Liliya Williams:Evidence for self-interacting DM

The aspects of modern cosmology related with new physics, predicted by particle theory are discussed here. The models of inflation, baryosynthesis, dark matter and dark energy, physics of very early Universe, cosmological nucleosynthesis, origin and properties of cosmic microwave background radiation, formation of large scale structure of the Universe, role and distribution of dark matter in the modern Universe are discussed here.

Liliya Williams:Evidence for self-interacting DM

New postby Maxim Khlopov on Sat 19 Sep 2015 16:06

VIA lecture by Liliya Williams “Evidence for self-interacting dark matter from Abell 3827” was given on 18.09.2015
Its record is online

The following questions and comments were made in the discussion:
Houri Ziaeepour: Have you used other wavelength than light for mass reconstruction or not ?
Richard Weiner: So far we know 4 types of interactions: strong, electromagnetic, weak and gravitational. Is self interacting dark matter due to a fifth type of interactions? If not, it appears as an ad hoc invention to describe our ignorance.
Richard Weiner: What are the chances to get in the near future some non-gravitational information about DM?
Houri Ziaeepour: 1.62kpc is a small distance. Can it come from underestimation of uncertainties ?
Houri Ziaeepour: It would be nice to know what would be the value in different wavelength.
Houri Ziaeepour: Yes. And also show if there is some complexity in the baryonic distribution
(the gas and also if there is absorption).
You are welcome to continue discussion in replies to this post!
