The following questions were put and comments were made in the course of the lecture
Shantanu: what determines the difference between laser and a maser? What governs the wavelength of emission?
J.R. Cudell: should one use asymmetric wave functions for atoms with an odd number of electrons?
Shantanu: what kind of states are these?
Shantanu: states with different n, l, ml, ms? or ciompletely different quantum numbers are used for this?
Shantanu: Just wanted to draw attention to some work done 40 years ago by Larry Mertz who had argued that pulsars are mode locked lasers. Since this is not well known, I will share the reference
